Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player secured his first trophy for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time mentor Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since spring of that year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one titles at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, comprising in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to wonder if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the final five games to go ahead.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to create a final set.

He rescued 4 early-game chances in a tight final set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner earned victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
