An extensive extended voyage around the Australian Coast is being halted in the wake of the death of an elderly lady who was stranded by the ship on a distant tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been walking on the remote island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the excursion for a pause. The ship sailed away leaving her and came back later that day after the personnel discovered the woman was unaccounted for.

A large-scale rescue mission discovered her remains the next day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the event, alongside police and the official investigator.

Head of the cruise operator said that travelers and staff on the ship were notified that the continuation of the journey had been cancelled due to the "unfortunate death and previous technical problems".

Through an announcement, he mentioned that travelers would be given a full refund, and said the company was working "to organize the return journeys of the passengers via specially arranged planes".

Officials also released an updated announcement, and said they had "issued a directive to the Master" preventing any further travelers from boarding the liner.

The spokesperson said that they would attend the vessel in the port city upon its arrival.

The ship initially left the Australian port on October 24th, and was only 48 hours into the voyage at the point of the senior passenger's demise. The remote island was the initial destination on the itinerary.

Passengers on the vessel - who typically pay large sums of currency to participate in the voyage - were ferried there for a day trip with the choice of hiking or underwater exploration.

Family Reaction

The offspring of the victim said that her relatives was "surprised and grieved that the liner left Lizard Island after an scheduled excursion without my parent".

Through her comments, she portrayed her mum as an "energetic 80-year-old" who was a member of a hiking group.
